Ellen studied in Cortona when she was pursuing her fine arts degree at the University of Georgia. Her sister Leslie, who had given me the gift of carrying Ellen’s ashes with me on my travels, reminded me of this when I told her we would be heading across Italy for the final stretch. So, Cortona it was!
I spent a couple of days wandering around and trying to figure out the best spot to leave her, and while examining the map of the town, noticed something.

Look over to the right- huh. University of Georgia Study Abroad Program. Well, that’s an easy decision.

In the second picture you can see that someone left flowers, and I placed her jar of ashes there for a picture.
Then, saying a few words, I scattered her over the countryside.
