Howdy, it’s been seven years since my last post from Lille. I didn’t stop travelling, I just stopped keeping the blog. So, I’ve decided to pick it back up. I’m going to “start” where I left off. Just after Lille, I headed to Belgium, then Croatia again (before it joined the Schengen area I could spend 90 days there visa free), then Brescia with my friend I met in Lecce in 2016, then Milan, Barcelona, Girona, the Languedoc area of France, back to Paris to meet up with my friends from Brest, including the one I was with in Lille. Then back to the states for a bit.
In June 2018 I headed back to Europe, London and Scotland, where I made some friends that I’m still close with. Then back to London and took the ferry from Poole to Cherbourg where I spent a couple of months in Normandy with a friend from the CELTA class in 2016. Then it was back to Paris, and Iceland. Headed back to the states and stayed with family friends- they like me because I become the live in cook ;), and finally rented an amazing garage apartment back in Colorado, and got a job teaching adjunct at the University.
And then covid hit. Horrible all around, but my timing was actually pretty good. I had a wee flat, no shared walls, and isolation.
First small trip as covid was dwindling was to Moab, UT. In 2021 visited my Dad in SC, went to NYC in Dec 2022 with an old friend that has a small flat he maintains there (sublets to his cousin), and we decided we could be travel companions. Summer of 2023 we went to London, Prague, Munich, Paris and back to London. That December it was Spain- Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Toledo, Madrid.
I’m going to have to back fill those (and others), and I’m currently preparing myself for 7 weeks solo in Japan.
In the meantime, here’s my neighbor’s dog, because she spends lots of time with me and I love her:
